We had a blast staying on Alona Beach on Panglao Island. There were great activities nearby, from scuba diving to a Tarsier monkey sanctuary, and the whole area had a relaxed island vibe that resonated well with us. One of our first adventures from Alona Beach was an awesome island hopping tour to Balicasag and Virgin Islands.
You can find plenty of cheap food on Boracay if you know where to look. You can even find good cheap food. We had some amazing meals and ate like royalty on a peasant’s budget. Our newest post is packed with pictures of the highlights.
El Nido spoiled us with pristine, white sand, nearly empty beaches at every turn. We’ve never experienced anything like it anywhere in the world and it more than lived up to our lofty expectations. We loved all four of the tours and they are already at the top of our list of our favorite Philippines activities.
Halfway through our 3 weeks in El Nido we ran out of money. It turns out you cannot use an ATM to get cash in El Nido so we discovered several work-arounds. We’ll share them with you here in case you find yourself in a similar cash poor situation.
